Footprint Calculator

If everyone on the Earth lived the way I do it would take 6 Earth’s to provide enough resources. I have never thought about this before and it was shocking to see how much energy I consume.

First of all, I travel a lot. In the end of this year I will probably have been flying over 70 hours this year. It’s a lot, I know but I love to travel and discover new places all over the world. I also eat meat every day, maybe not every meal but almost. From now on will try to cook more vegetarian food but it’s hard because I don’t like it as much as I like meat!

A couple of years ago I traveled around in Australia. A big drought had affected the entire east coast and we were only allowed to shower a few minutes a day, and we discovered that it’s enough! Nowadays I always try to shower quickly, don’t let a water run when I shampooing my hair and breath my teeth.

Since last week when I read about this assignment, I’ve recycled all my water bottles. Back home in Sweden, I don’t have that problem because I never buy water, without drinking from the tap. In Sweden the water from the tap taste the same as the water on the bottles, but here it tastes so much chlorine.

I think this was a useful assignment, and I will think about this in the future.

About me

Hello, my name is Emelie Johansson, I am 24 years old and from Sweden.
I am here as an exchange student and will stay here for one semester.

I have been studying two years on my home University in Sweden, and have one more year until I get my bachelor's degree in finance. I think I will go further and study one or two more years after that and get a master's degree in finance.

In the future, when I finish the school, I would like to work international. That is why I went to United States. I need to learn better English, it is fun but difficult! With that said, please have patience with my English!

When I first started University I was sure that I would like to work with marketing when I graduate. My father is a successful businessman and works at on of the biggest banks in Sweden as an internal auditor and when I was a little child I always said that I would never walk in my fathers footstep. And here I am, studying finance and works on a bank. Life never gets as you expected.

Back home in Sweden I live together with my boyfriend Mikael. We have been together for five years now.

What I miss most from Sweden is of course my boyfriend, family and friend. But I also miss the Swedish food!

The food culture is very different. Here in the United States you got a lot of different restaurants on campus. In Sweden we got one, with healthy food. But most students bring their own lunch.
America are fascinating in many ways but the food is… not my favorite!

So far I really love Florida. I been in the States three times before and I have to say I love the people here. Everyone is so friendly and open-minded.

The weather is also much better than home. Soon it starts to get cold in Sweden, in November the snow is falling and you need to wear a lot of clothes when you get out. I do not miss that part!

I hope you got to know me a little better, but if you have questions, feel free to ask!
